Combined B.S./M.S. Program

Combined B.S./M.S. Program

All BS programs offered by CISE are eligible for a combined B.S./M.S. degree. Each program is combined with the M.S. degree with the same name in the same college except for CSC, which is combined with the M.S. in Computer Science offered through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Students will pay graduate-level fees for each graduate course they take (see cost of attendance).

Requirements

A student wishing to apply to the combined B.S./M.S. CISE programs must satisfy the following minimum criteria:

Note: Students transferring with courses from another institution must complete at least 6 hours of major coursework at UF before eligibility.

  1. Must have at least junior status.
  2. Must have an overall GPA of at least 3.3.
  3. Must have completed at least three of the following four courses with a minimum 3.3 GPA:
COP 3504 – Advanced Programming Fundamentals for CISE majors (or equivalent: COP 3502 AND COP 3503)
COT 3100 – Applications of Discrete Structures
CDA 3101 – Introduction to Computer Organization
COP 3530 – Data Structures and Algorithms
  4. Before you enter the Master’s program you must submit a current GRE (minimum is 308).

Students meeting the above criteria may get the application from the link below. The completed application should be emailed to Kristina Sapp.

Applicants will be notified by email of their status once a decision is made. If approved, Kristina Sapp will get the required signatures and notify you of this.

Students can take a maximum of 12 graduate credits. Students can only take graduate level courses if they count towards both the undergraduate and graduate programs. The courses below are approved to replace a specific undergraduate degree requirement. If a student has already completed the undergraduate version they may not enroll in the graduate equivalency for credit towards either degree program. Nor can they enroll in the undergraduate equivalent of a course below if they have completed the graduate version. All other graduate courses completed will be applied towards CISE technical electives excluding those below.

  • COP5725 Database Management Systems = CIS4301 Information and Database Systems 1
  • COP5556 Programming Language Principles = COP4020 Programming Language Concepts
  • CNT5106C Computer Networks = CNT4007 Computer Network Fundamentals
  • CEN5035 Software Engineering = CEN3031 Introduction to Software Engineering

Interested applicants should email Kristina Sapp at CISE graduate admissions.
