Christina Gardner-McCune, Ph.D., My T. Thai, Ph.D., Eakta Jain, Ph.D., Gloria Katuka, and Kristy Boyer, Ph.D. are making strides in AI. Read each of their stories.
The IEEE named professors My T. Thai, Ph.D., and Prabhat Mishra, Ph.D., as 2021 Fellows. They were among three Fellows selected from the University of Florida.
Patrick Traynor, Ph.D., was awarded a $1.7 million grant from the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate to focus on securing mobile networks.
Seven students from the CISE department were named the recipients of the Outstanding Achievement Award from the UF International Center.
Richard "Nemo" Newman, Ph.D., retired from the department after more than 30 years. Dr. Nemo's research focused on network protocols, distributed collaboration, distributed systems, and security.
The UF CISE computer engineering graduate program ranks No. 12 among public universities, according to the 2022 U.S. News & World Report.
“It was literally a lightning strike that propelled me into computer science,” Dr. Crawford said about the storm that fried his computer when he was a teenager.
“When I first got into college and selected a major, it was all about having the opportunity to make the world better in some real tangible way,” Holt said.
