Florida is among the first states to adopt a K-12 AI education program designed to prepare its youth for the growing global demand for an AI-enabled workforce. The framework for the public-school coursework was designed with help from UF faculty, including Christina Gardner-McCune, Ph.D.
Working in partnership with the Topos Institute and the University of Colorado-Denver, James Fairbanks, Ph.D., and a team of researchers will use a $5.8 million DARPA award to further their radical approach to scientific computing that applies category theory to mathematically model mathematics itself.
Juan E. Gilbert, Ph.D., has been named a 2022 Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for “leadership in broadening participation in computing and contributions to accessible voting technologies.”
Kiley Graim, Ph.D., is leading a $1.5 million National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Cancer Institute study that will allow researchers to diagnose human cancers, potentially leading to earlier clinical interventions.
Research from Sara Rampazzi, Ph.D., reveals that expertly timed lasers shined at an approaching autonomous vehicle can create a blind spot in front of the vehicle large enough to completely hide moving pedestrians and other obstacles.
After many years devoted to teaching and research, Baba Vemuri, Ph.D., was named a Distinguished Professor. Dr. Vemuri is the third person in CISE to receive the distinction.
Eakta Jain, Ph.D., was recently named an Association of Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques (SIGGRAPH) Executive Committee Director.
A group of students representing the UF Student InfoSec Team (UF-SIT) Kernel Sanders team recently won a Capture the Flag tournament sponsored by Raymond James in St. Petersburg, Fla.
