Zhe Jiang
Associate Professor
Biography
Dr. Zhe Jiang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering at the University of Florida. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota and his B.E. from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC).
His research focuses on artificial intelligence and machine learning, with particular interests in foundation models and large language models, AI for science, spatiotemporal data, and scientific machine learning. His work develops advanced AI methods and translates them into interdisciplinary applications in Earth sciences (flood mapping, coastal hazard forecasting, ecology), health and medicine.
His research has been published in leading AI, machine learning, and data science venues, including NeurIPS, ICML, KDD, AAAI, IJCAI, ICDE, and ACM SIGSPATIAL. He has served as a conference co-organizer for ACM SIGKDD, ACM SIGSPATIAL, IEEE ICDM, and SIAM Data Mining. He received the ACM SIGSPATIAL 2023 Best Paper Award and the 2024 SIAM Data Mining Blue Sky Vision Track Best Paper Runner-Up Award. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Geological Survey, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and others. He is a Senior Member of ACM and IEEE.
