Message from the Chair
Dear friends,
At the UF Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering, we’re playing hardball with some of the world’s biggest security challenges. Coming up with innovative ideas and solutions requires listening to, learning from, and collaborating with different voices and perspectives.
Our department is home to an incredibly diverse and talented student body and faculty. Among computer science departments nationwide, we have the highest number of women faculty and employ twice the national average of black faculty members. And we’re growing. Within the last year, we have expanded our team of educators by hiring six faculty members.
Our award-winning faculty are changing the world with their research to help children in the classroom and to help the government make decisions. Worried about secure technology? At CISE, tools that detect credit card skimmers and research uncovering vulnerabilities in cellphones are making our world safer.
Here’s to another year of working to make positive change in our world.
