The LearnDialogue Group is a research lab within Human Centered Computing in the Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering at the University of Florida. We are a group of computer scientists with multidisciplinary backgrounds, led by Kristy Elizabeth Boyer.

We research the ways in which natural language dialogue and intelligent systems can support human learning. We build computational models of dialogue and learning, and these models drive the adaptivity of our intelligent systems while shedding light on effective strategies for supporting human learning. We design, develop, and investigate learning environments for individuals and collaborative groups including tutorial dialogue, intelligent tutoring, virtual agents for learning, and game-based learning.

We aim to transform the way that young learners experience computer science, and we engage in evidence-based multidisciplinary research and computer science curriculum development for elementary and middle school. We also conduct research on pedagogical and technological innovation in postsecondary computer science. Promoting diversity and equity is a core value that permeates all of our projects.
