Step 2: Course Overview
This is the course overview for our UF CISE Summer Internship Project Course.
1     Course Objectives
In the six weeks of this course, we will work together in groups of three or four students, to achieve the following objectives:
- Attain knowledge and experience in project and group selection, project specification and task planning/scheduling;
- Develop software design, coding, test, and analysis skills in an agile-centered environment; and
- Develop spoken and written communication skills for presenting project designs, progress in development, and results.
- Achievement of these objectives will equip students to conceive of, plan, schedule, design, and develop software projects, as well as to report on project development progress and results in spoken (presentation) and written (report) form.
2     Textbook and Course Materials
There is no textbook for this course. All course instructional materials will be provided to sudents online, at no additional cost.
3     Evaluation
Assignments will be comprised of a Project Plan, a Project Schedule, two presentations and one Final Report graded on a scale of 0 to 100, as follows (all these assignments are to be group efforts - details to be provided in each Canvas Assignment page):
Project Plan: 5 points (5 percent of Final Score) Project Schedule: 5 points (5 percent of Final Score) Design Presentation: 20 points (20 percent of Final Score) Final Presentation: 30 points (30 percent of Final Score) Final Report: 40 points (40 percent of Final Score) --------------------------------------------------------------------- TOTAL POINTS: 100 points maximum (100 percent of Final Score)Each assignment will be specified in detail via a Canvas Assignment page, which you will be able to access throughout the duration of the course. The instructor will discuss each assignment with you, in detail and will provide one or more examples of successful work for most assignments, inasmuch as FERPA privacy law (and UF's interpretation of such) allows.
4     Course Meetings
Classes will meet for six weeks, Tuesday (Tue) 3-5pm and Wednesday (Wed) 1-2pm (or Wed 1-3pm, as needed). The classroom will be announced when room scheduling is completed.
