Syllabus
All readings are from Scientific
Computing:
An Introductory Survey, Michael T. Heath, (2nd edition),
McGraw Hill, 2002.
We will cover Chapters 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 12. Not all material
in each chapter will be covered. We will be using Matlab
extensively throughout the semester. Matlab is
available on most CISE machines.
Homeworks, Project and Exams
There will be approximately 10-12 homeworks, a
project and two midterms. The second midterm will only cover
the material after the first mid term. The grading
percentages are homeworks (30%), project (20%), midterm 1
(35%) and midterm 2 (15%). The first midterm will most
likely be held on Thursday, March 28th and the second
midterm on Tuesday, April 23rd.
Homeworks will be assigned and due on Thursdays in class
unless otherwise noted. If you are unable to turn in the
homework by the end of class Thursday, you can turn in the
homework late with a 30% penalty before 5pm, Friday. (Please
indicate this by writing "LATE" at the top of your
homework.) We will award no credit for homeworks received
after 5pm Friday.
Students with Disabilities
Students requesting classroom accommodation must first
register with the Dean of Students Office. The Dean of
Students Office will provide documentation to the student
who must then provide this documentation to the Instructor
when requesting accommodation.
