Alin Dobra: Short Biography

Alin Dobra is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering at University of Florida. Alin grew up in the heart of Transylvania (Romania) and got his undergraduate degree from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca in 1998. He then moved to Cornell University from where he obtained a Ph.D degree in 2003 under the supervision of Johannes Gehrke. Since then, he is an Assistant Professor at UF. Alin's main scientific interest are at the border of Mathematics and Computer Science. He pursues topics such as Approximate Database Query Processing and Foundations of Data-mining and Machine Learning.
