Juan E. Gilbert, Ph.D.

Dear colleagues, alumni, and friends,

At the end of the spring semester, we would like to celebrate the accomplishments of our faculty, staff, and students by sharing some of the highlights from the department.

Firstly, I would like to congratulate our outstanding faculty for their continued efforts to bring excellence to our department and acknowledge their commitment to conducting groundbreaking research. Kiley Graim, Ph.D., is addressing a critical gap in medical genetic research and ensuring it better represents and benefits people of all backgrounds. Tamer Kahveci, Ph.D., was appointed as editor-in-chief of IEEE Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. Eakta Jain, Ph.D., and Kevin Butler, Ph.D., are using generative models to modify the faces and voices of patients while retaining the essential information needed to quantify ASD-associated behaviors. Prabhat Mishra, Ph.D., received mentorship awards from the college and university.

Additionally, I would like to showcase the accomplishments of our outstanding students and alumni. Luke Bauer, a Ph.D. student, is reinventing steganography for the digital age. The UF Student Information Security Team placed second in the Global Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition. This spring the department hosted the inaugural CISE Alumni Awards Ceremony, which featured four awards focused on honoring the extraordinary achievements of CISE alumni.

Finally, I would like to congratulate Joseph N. Wilson, Ph.D. as he retires with 41 years of service to the department. We greatly appreciate your contributions to the department throughout your outstanding career.

Your continued support is critical to our success, and I would like to ask that you join me in congratulating these incredible faculty members and students on their accomplishments this year.

Sincerely,

Juan E. Gilbert Signature
